A Few More Reasons Why Pom is

There is no denying the enormous popularity of the hottest superfood – pomegranate. A fruit that is as rich with history as it is with antioxidants, pomegranate has long been revered for its nutritional and medicinal properties. Dating back roughly 4000 years in Persia, pomegranate is one of the earliest known cultivated fruits. Some researchers have theorized that the fruit which tempted Eve(resulting in Adam and her getting the proverbial boot from Eden) was not an apple, but rather a pomegranate. The healing properties of pomegranate are referenced in the some of earliest known medical texts, dating back to 1500 BC in Ancient Egypt. Brought to Spain by the Moors in 800 A.D., the Spanish city of Granada derives its name from the fruit. Later in the 18th century, the French military developed the grenade, a hand-held explosive device, so named because of the way the fragments dispersed upon detonation much like the seeds of the pomegranate.
